Ramires reveals who told JT to wear his kit during Champions League final

Chelsea’s win over Bayern Munich in 2012 had so many memorable moments, but one favourite snippet for fans of other clubs to bring up is John Terry lifting the trophy in his full kit despite not having played in the game.

The Chelsea captain has had to defend himself on multiple occasions from accusations of being a glory hunter. As Chelsea fans, we’ve also had to defend him on that charge, but according to his teammate Ramires, it was never the defender’s idea at all.

“All of us changed post-match. The idea came from the club, because they wanted everyone ready for the team photo,” The Daily Mail quote the former Blue as saying.

Now that contradicts what we’ve heard down the years, including from JT himself, that it was a UEFA directive, for the same reasons. We can see the logic – you don’t want to see 24 guys in football kit and one guy in jeans and t shirt in the photos for forever more do you?

Either way, it doesn’t really matter, and JT sure as hell didn’t care when he lifted that trophy.
