Lampard is “leading the conversation” over Chelsea transfers

If you’ve ever wondered how Frank Lampard has fitted in at Chelsea since arriving last summer, you only have to check out this piece by the Athletic to find out more.

Despite being a club legend, there was definitely the fear that Lampard would be a puppet for the regime upstairs. So far that hasn’t proved to be the case, and he’s actually made some pretty big decisions in buying and selling players.

The article says that in terms of scouting and deciding the future of the squad, Lampard plays a huge role. They say that:

“Despite his relative inexperience, Lampard is leading the conversation over who Chelsea do and don’t try to sign. He has further cultivated a healthy working relationship with the director Marina Granovskaia, and is regarded internally as a real asset in persuading transfer targets to join.”

The fact that he was a well known star player around Europe while most of these potential signings were growing up obviously has a big impact, and he’s a recognisable face to anyone in football.

Not only that, but he’s also increasingly developing his own philosophy as a manager, and will only want players who can fit into that structure.

He’s building something special now, and we can’t wait to see how it turns out.
