There have been a few rumours flying around Chelsea in recent times regarding their potential activity in the summer, despite the hiatus of all action.
Two names that keep cropping up are Phil Coutinho, formerly of Liverpool, and Alex Telles, the Porto left back.
We’ve heard it from plenty of softer sources, but now Nicolo Schira, the well known Italian transfer insider, has spoken out definitively on the subject.
You can see Schira’s actual Tweet here:
#Chelsea are in talks to sign Alex #Telles (Porto want €40M) and #Coutinho (also Tottenham are interested in him). The good relationship with their agents Pini Zahavi and Kia Joorabchian could help #Blues to finalize the deal. #transfers #CFC

Telles just switched his agent to Pini Zahavi this week, giving the impression he’s lining up for a move. €40m sounds about right, and Chelsea are looking for a first choice left back. It all fits.
Coutinho is more of a long shot, and plenty fans won’t want a player who has struggled in successive years at Barcelona and then Bayern Munich. There’s something to be said for a deal on the cheap, but there are certainly bigger names people are dreaming of.
We’ll see what happens – but this is a solid start and a decent source.
