Football matches may have been paused, but that hasn’t stopped clubs from keeping up pursuing their transfer targets for this summer.
Anyone who slows down will fall behind in the long run, and it seems like some teams are already to lock in major bids while everyone else is hesitating.
Today, it’s been claimed that Everton are bidding for Chelsea target Gabriel of Lille, and thinking they’ve got him for €30m.
Get French Football News, who are usually very well sourced when it comes to Ligue 1 matters, seem to say that the deal is all but done:
Everton are confident that they have landed Lille central defender Gabriel for £30m for when the next transfer window eventually opens, according to The Guardian.

Of course the fact that Everton are just “confident” rather than certain shows it’s not a done deal just yet. Chelsea still have the opportunity to come in and offer a better deal to the club and player.
But perhaps our interest was never as solid as it sounded, and our name was just being used to get a better fee out of the Toffees?
We will find out when the transfer window reopens – whenever that is.
