Conor Gallagher names Arsenal star who “gave me the runaround”

It’s a bizarre midseason lull right now, and club sites are calling in daily interviews with their players to keep fans interested.

The Metro has picked up on some interesting quotes from Conor Gallagher, who was on loan at Charlton and is now at Swansea this season.

He’s in the middle of his first season in senior football now, and was asked about the best played he’s faced.

“In terms of reputation it would be Wayne Rooney,” whom Gallagher got to face just before the season was shut down.

“But I remember in the FA Youth Cup, Emile Smith Rowe game me the runaround so that’s a game that sticks out for me.”

It’s somewhat odd to hear a player who’s just stepped up to the men’s game name a youth player as the one who gave them the biggest trouble, but given Smith Rowe is considered a top tier talent maybe it’s not that surprising.

Let’s hope they are battling once again for their club’s senior teams one day – with a better result for Gallagher.
