Chelsea target Declan Rice would have to ask for a move as West Ham stand firm

Chelsea are showing an interest in signing England and West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, as per The Telegraph.

Rice has good friends at Chelsea and clear links there from coming through the academy at the same time of the likes of Blues midfielder Mason Mount.

However, it would seem that if Rice has any intentions of rejoining his former club, he will need to hand in a transfer request, and even then they might refuse.

This is because West Ham are not interested in selling Rice and will not negotiate with Chelsea over a summer deal, according to Goal.

The Telegraph’s report touched upon the fact that West Ham will need money, and Chelsea could offer Ross Barkley as part of any deal.

The report from Goal also mentions The Hammers interest in Barkley, suggesting that he could be involved in any potential offer from Chelsea.

It seems a pretty unrealistic pursuit for Chelsea though, with other areas on the pitch more of a priority.
