Chelsea ‘open talks’ to secure new contracts for two first team players

Despite the current climate and state of play due to COVID-19, Chelsea look to still be arranging a number of new business issues, such as new contract extensions.

Two first team players are reportedly in negotiations with the club over extending their current deals, as per reports.

Striker Olivier Giroud’s deal runs out at the end of this season, whenever that may be. However, according to Goal, his agent is in talks over a 1-year extension with Chelsea off the back of his fine performances before the season was paused.

As well as Giroud, Chelsea are looking to get centre back Antonio Rudiger to sign an extension, according to Sky Sports.

The Germany international has two years left on his current deal, but Chelsea are looking to get him sealed down to a three-year deal that also includes the option of a further year.

Sky claim that Chelsea have been impressed with Rudiger’s performances since returning from a groin injury in December.
