Why Antonio Rudiger is now getting attention from top German teams

Antonio Rudiger took the step up from Serie A to a top Premier League side a few years ago, a move which massively boosted his global profile.

He was known as a promising player at Stuttgart and then Roma, but it’s only by coming to the English top flight that a player can really get their name out there.

Two of the top teams in his home country of Germany are now apparently interested in the centre-back, according to the Daily Mail.

Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are both looking to get younger in central defence, and see German international Rudiger as a possible option.

It’s never easy to buy players from Chelsea, but given talks over a new deal in London have not yet been concluding, this is definitely a good time for sides to target Rudi.

Whether this is all a precursor to a move, or to that new contract being signed, we will have to see.
