Willian explains the “secret” to Liverpool’s success

Chelsea are trying to build a project from the ground up, and if you want an example of exactly how to do that, there’s no better place to look than Liverpool.

The Reds installed Jurgen Klopp and a director of football, a new scouting team and a system of buying and selling players that has gradually built them a superb and unified team.

Just ask Willian. The Brazilian has been speaking in his native country about what the reason for the rival team’s success is:

“I think the secret [to Liverpool’s success] is continuity,” Goal.com quote the winger as saying.

“The coach has been with the club for almost five years. When you have continuity, you can win titles,” he went on.

“They had a sequence of important victories, which shows the maturity of the team. You have to have time to get things done, and Liverpool have had a coach and a philosophy for a long time,” Willian concluded.

Well, he hasn’t seen a huge amount of continuity at Chelsea, but he has seen plenty of titles. Continuity will certainly help, as will buying and selling in a smart way as Liverpool have.

Is letting the former Shakhtar man walk away this summer the kind of thing they would do?
