UEFA plan to finish Domestic European competitions in August

It would appear that Footballs large organisations are still looking to get this current season finished before the summer is out.

The Premier League are reportedly looking to get their season finished by the end of July, playing the remaining games behind closed doors in a World Cup style camp in quarantine.

Now UEFA are planning to finish the Europa League and the Champions League in August, which will put back the start of next season, and will reduce the amount of game being played next year, according to a report via The Times.

The plan has been given broad backing by Gordon Taylor, the chief executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA).

Once again though, these seem like very optimistic plans largely because of the unpredictability of the spread of the Coronavirus, the pandemic that has put us in this position in the first place.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds and what big decisions will be made over the coming weeks.
