Billy Gilmour has been given the nod to start tonight by Frank Lampard, and fans are understandably excited.
Recent lineups have been rather dull, as Lampard has had such limited options, and lots of our more exciting players are out injured. This game in the FA Cup gives Gilmour the chance to start, a rare injection of excitement into the XI.
Fans on social media were delighted to see the 18 year old talent in line to play tonight, and we’re all excited after he’s translated dominance at youth team levels into promising cameos already this season.
This game is a step up for him again, and we can’t wait to see the impact he can make in a big game live on BBC One in front of the eyes of the world. This could be a very important night for the teenager.
We’re not sure he’s going to “school Fabinho,” as one Twitter user put it, but he can still definitely impress.

Anjorin on the bench. Big vote of confidence from Lampard to choose Gilmour over Jorginho, especially with him missing the next three games. #CFC #CHELIV #FACup

Gilmour will be good to watch for #CFC again – to see what lessons he’s learned from the loss to #MUFC in the Carabao Cup.
