“We’re not the Chelsea of time gone by” – Frank Lampard not getting overexcited

Frank Lampard has just given a press conference after his team’s important 2-0 win over Liverpool, but the Chelsea boss isn’t getting too overexcited just yet.

He has clearly reminded the players that there’s a long way to go, and they won’t be relaxing after one good game on the back of several bad ones.

One of the reporters asked if it was true there had been a “team meeting,” and Lampard confirmed that:

“We needed a general meeting and where we want to get to. We’re not a Chelsea of time gone by, a different place. Unless we work hard at training we can’t make that jump,” he said in quotes picked up by Football.London.

That’s the exact kind of killer mentality we expect from Super Frank. He knows today’s win was massive to get a bit of spirit and belief back in the camp, but we can’t get ahead of ourselves. This weekend is another massive ask against Everton, and we will need to do everything right all over again to get three points in that game.
