Legendary Sky Sports commentator hails Stamford Bridge atmosphere

There’s a lot of downtime at the moment for people in all professions, but football is a particularly bad case.

Not only are the players and coaches kicking their heels, what about all the journalists and bloggers and commentators and referees and tea ladies and everyone else associated with the game? We’re all sitting here waiting for the game to restart.

On Sky Sports they’re keeping Martin Tyler busy by getting him to talk about famous grounds around the Premier League. Today was Chelsea’s turn, and when talking about Stamford Bridge the PL icon dismissed the idea that the atmosphere at London grounds is bad.

“Fans from other parts of the country often decry London grounds as lacking in atmosphere, but that accusation cannot be levelled at the noise level from Chelsea fans on their own territory,” Tyler commented.

Now Chelsea fans are often the first to bemoan the lack of noise at their own stadium, but there’s no denying that when it’s rocking it’s really rocking. Turn back the history books to that 4-0 win over Manchester United in 2016 if you really want to know what we’re talking about.
