We all know Chelsea are going to bring in some major signings this summer after a year out of the market – just consider the deal we already have lined up for Hakim Ziyech.
But as well as those names coming in there will also be departures – to free up space in the squad as much as to raise funds.
Football.London had a think about who could go for decent money, and they came up with four options: Kurt Zouma, Ross Barkley, Michy Batshuayi and Emerson Palmieri.
It’s hard to disagree with those choices too much. Of all them, Chelsea fans might be most attached to Kurt Zouma. But the fact of the matter is that we need a top tier central defender this summer, and at least one of our existing options at the position will have to go.
Fikayo Tomori we’d like to keep around. Andreas Christensen came through the academy and has a lot of useful abilities the others lack. Antonio Rudiger we would happily shed, but he’s got the most experience and we can see why Frank Lampard might value that enough to keep him.
It could easily be Zouma who ends up getting the boot, despite him being perhaps the most popular with fans.
