Jadon Sancho being ‘not for Chelsea’ likely to largely be speculation

There have been a few reports coming out in recent days claiming who are and who are not the so-called favourites to land Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho in the summer.

Chelsea have been heavily linked, as have Manchester United and Liverpool.

Previously Chelsea have been touted as the favourites to sign Sancho, and yesterday it was Manchester United’s turn.

The Athletic reporter David Ornstein has today reported that the Sancho deal might ‘not be for Chelsea, whether that’s around money, Champions League qualification or the saturation of wing players.’

However, at this stage this is nothing more than speculation being leaked by various parties and the reality is that Sancho is no closer to any new team yet.

There will be no pre-agreements made in this deal because Sancho is pinnacle to a very important part of the season with Dortmund, who are not overly keen to sell him anyway. There will be large agent fees to consider, and anything can happen with this pursuit.

As Ornstein mentions, Champions League qualification will surely become a factor in Sancho’s decision, and this is wide open right now with Chelsea actually leading that race currently.

There is nothing conclusive and a long way to go…
