Chelsea have just one player included in list of top 50 most valuable youngsters

Chelsea have one player in the top 10 most valuable in the world under the age of 20 – but he is also the only one in the top 50.

CIES Football Observatory has Callum Hudson-Odoi in 6th, with a value of £72.3m.

That’s good going, and probably a fair valuation of our brilliant teenage winger. But where’s Billy Gilmour? In fact, there are more St Etienne and Schalke players there than Chelsea players.

With all the brilliant young players we have, we’re amazed there aren’t more in this 50. Of course there are a lot of factors that go in to these figures, and they’re just an estimate, but you’d expect at least a couple of Blues given it’s a big list of 50.

Gilmour, Tino Anjorin, Ian Maatsen. There are a few who could lay decent claim to being included – although it should be noted Reece James is just weeks from being eligible, presumably somewhere near the top.
