Chelsea had “intensified” transfer bid for genuine wonderkid – but may be scuppered by corona freeze

Chelsea were closer than it sounds to signing Jude Bellingham from Manchester United, according to information leaking out from sources like the Daily Mail last night.

They say that our attempts to sign the genuine wonderkid had been ramped up in the days and weeks before the coronavirus lockdown, and that we were seriously competing with Manchester United in trying to bring the midfielder in this summer.

Apparently, the club “intensified their bid” to recruit the 16 year old just before the game was put on pause by the coronavirus outbreak.

Given that the youngster had already had a visit to United’s Carrington training ground, it seems reasonable to say that the Red Devils were leading the chase for him until now.

But this pause in the world game – and the as yet unknown effects it could have on the global transfer market – might just open up a path for the Blues to get back into the race for this particular talent.
