Chelsea face scary rival to sign top Serie A goalkeeper

Juventus are not a club that like to be caught short when it comes to goalkeepers.

They held on to Gigi Buffon, one of the world’s best, for a long long time, and when they did eventually let him go, they felt so undercovered in that position that they rushed to get him back a year later.

He’s rattling through his 40s now, so they are going to have to try and move on eventually, and the latest person they’ve been linked to is Gianluigi Donnarumma of AC Milan.

Chelsea have also been linked heavily with the young stopper, whose contract expires in the summer of 2021. That means he’s likely to be available at the right price – the question is whether Chelsea are willing to compete with Juventus to pay it.

The links have been denied by senior figures at Milan and at Juventus, but that doesn’t convince us for a second. There’s no way that Juve are letting a top Italian keeper leave Serie A without a fight.
