Chelsea could have had Didier Drogba and Thierry Henry up front in scariest strike force in Premier League history

There’s no football on for the foreseeable future so we’re left looking either backwards or forwards to August, when the season will hopefully start up again.

The Sun have chosen to do the latter today, looking way back to 2003 when Roman Abramovich was looking into buying Chelsea.

He was apparently keen on Arsenal too, but was warned off by his advisers – we hope they got a pay rise.

The tabloid also reveal another interesting nugget from those early days of Roman’s reign. Apparently, once he had the deal for Chelsea tied up, he was keen to bring Arsenal’s talisman Thierry Henry to Stamford Bridge.

What a partnership he could have had with Didier Drogba, signed a year later. Just imagine the goals they would have scored.

In the end Henry stayed put, eventually moving to Barcelona where he would play out the rest of his prime.

Realistically it was always going to be very difficult to being him to West London, but it’s hard not to fee a little sad we never got to see him betray the club where he was a legend to come and wear Blue.
