Billy Gilmour part of the reason Chelsea were transfer banned

Well, at least he looks like the absolute real deal!

Chelsea reportedly broke the FIFA transfer rules to sign Billy Gilmour from Rangers in 2017.

As reported by The Telegraph, Gilmour to Chelsea was one of deals that formed part of the charges laid against Chelsea last year by FIFA’s disciplinary committee who considered the agreement the club struck with Rangers for Gilmour prior to his signing as having breached its transfer regulations.

They claim that while Gilmour was still at Rangers, Chelsea had secured veto over the Scottish club even entering into negotiations to loan him elsewhere.

The young Scot was acquired for around £2 million, at least that is the reported fee. He was wanted by a large number of other clubs around Europe, so Chelsea moved fast.

Gilmour proved why Chelsea worked so hard to get him and broke the regulations, by a shining man of the match performance against league leaders Liverpool in the FA Cup on Tuesday night.
