Willian’s contract is coming to an end this summer, and it looks like his long stay at Chelsea will be over once it expires.
The Brazilian has been a true stalwart for us for many years now, but talks over a new deal have reached an apparent stalemate, and the chance to go and take a final contract elsewhere will surely be too tempting now, despite how much he enjoys life in London.
Today the Sun link him with a potential switch to Atletico Madrid, who are apparently ready to swoop for the Brazil star. They have already made an approach, which any non-Premier League club can now make now there is less than 6 months left on his existing deal.
Tottenham have also been linked, and we’d imagine there would be interest from Italy too, where teams love a piece of free transfer action.
The 31 year old has said he’s still focused on the rest of this season with Chelsea, and we hope that’s the case. He may not be here next year, but he can play a huge part in deciding whether the club is playing in the Champions League once he’s gone.
