Willian likely to leave Chelsea at the end of the season after latest comments

Chelsea were beaten 3-0 by Bayern Munich at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League last night to all but end their hopes of progressing to the next round.

The German side were a different class and it was more lessons to be learned for Frank Lampard’s first season as a Premier League manager.

Brazilian winger Willian started on the bench once again and Ross Barkley was preferred ahead of him. Barkley subsequently put in a disastrous performance and was eventually replaced by Willian.

The lack of game time for Willian recently could be down to the fact that it now looks likely he is off at the end of the season, with the player himself admitting it is not looking like Chelsea will meet his demands of a 3-year contract extension.

He also chose after this defeat as a good time to talk about this situation… Puzzling stuff from one of the supposed senior players once again.

As cited by The Metro, Willian spoke to Esporte Interativo after the game.

He said:

“Chelsea offered me two years, and they are not going to change what they offered.

“I said I wanted three more years.

“The situation is difficult because of this, I really don’t know if it will be possible.

“My goal is to continue working and focus on this remainder of the season, so that Chelsea can continue winning the games for the remainder of the season.”
