Watford midfielder begins push for a Champions League transfer

Abdoulaye Doucoure has been considered a very good Premier League player for a few seasons now, dominating in the middle of the park for Watford.

A next big move to a bigger team has not quite materialised yet though, and now he’s 27 and time is moving on, he seems ready to start positioning himself for a transfer this summer.

The Sun today have quotes from the former Rennes man where he makes it pretty clear he’s ready for a step up:

“I think I can still progress massively. I can still do great things,” the French midfielder said.

“Obviously, if I am pushed to change clubs, it will be to make a step forward.

“If a club of a high level comes and makes an interesting offer for me, of course the club will let me go easily,” he concluded.

The tabloid name Chelsea as an interested party, and it’s obvious to see how his leggy presence in midfield would provide a Nemanja Matic-like shield for the defence.

He will likely only want to move to a team in the Champions League however, and so it’s vital we keep pushing on for those top 4 spots if we want to make him a Blue.
