Frank Lampard spoke to the media after his press conference today, and while the focus was heavily on him and his changes to the lineup and formation, the manager himself wanted the players to take the credit.
“The players made the system, ” he insisted, pointing out the role that Mason Mount and Ross Barkley had in running the channels, and the way the back 3 pressed high up the pitch.
It was a beautiful combination of smart coaching and good play.
