Tammy Abraham says Cavani transfer “would have been nice”

Chelsea spent all of January chasing new options to help lighten the load on Tammy Abraham, the first choice striker in the squad.

In the end, despite extensive links with Edinson Cavani, we ended up with nobody, and Abraham was forced to soldier on this weekend, playing clearly still hurt against Leicester.

Asked about his feelings on the situation after the game by Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com, Tammy was honest about the fact he would have liked some support:

“The players we were talking about coming in, like Cavani and other top-class strikers, have been around the game for many years,” he said.

“It would have been nice if he had come. He would have been someone I can learn off and steal his ideas to add to my own.” he concluded on the subject of the Uruguayan hitman.

In the end, it will just mean more guaranteed starts for our young academy product, which will only do him good. Once he can shake off this ankle injury, he can hopefully fire us to a successful run in.
