Tabloid reports potential escape route for Kepa

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa has a potential exit from his current predicament, with Athletic Bilbao interested in a transfer according to a major tabloid.

The Sun write that his former club are “monitoring” the 25 year old’s status after Frank Lampard made the huge call to drop him for Saturday’s clash with Leicester.

The goalie now may not have a chance to recover his first team spot, and there’s even a possibility he’s played his last game for Chelsea.

But when it comes to moving him on, as the tabloid note, his wages of £170,000 a week are likely to be a problem. The fact that Bilbao already have a very competent and talented young keeper in place in the form of Alex Remiro, the man who replaced Kepa, is also likely to be an issue.

On the other hand, their desire to stockpile the best Basque talents could make them more inclined to make an offer.
