RLC could make next appearance in two weeks’ time

Fans are starting to get excited now as Ruben Loftus-Cheek gets close to a return after almost an entire year out injured.

The midfielder played an hour for the U23 Development Squad against Bretford B yesterday, and will continue to work with him to get back up to speed.

James Olley of the Evening Standard notes that Chelsea’s next development squad fixture is against Arsenal on the 17th.

That’s almost too far away for RLC, who would probably prefer to have a game sooner to keep working his way back, but at least it’s a safe distance away to ensure we’re not taking any risks with him.

After that game, where hopefully he will improve on the 60 minutes he got last time out, he can continue training with the first team.

Then he will likely play a final 90 minute game with the dev team before being considered fully fit to start appearing off the bench for Frank Lampard’s first team for the first time.
