“I am ready” – Rudiger up for Man Utd game after revealing he didn’t need to winter break

At the time of writing this, we approach the 4 and a half hour mark until kick off for tonight’s big match against Manchester United.

Chelsea fans have had to wait two weeks to see their side play again as the newly introduced winter break in to English football disrupted play.

Hopefully most players would have used this time wisely to relax and recharge the batteries after what has been a hectic first half of the season.

But now the focus is firmly back on league football and aiming to finish in the top four in order to gain that all important Champions League qualification.

Both Chelsea and United will be gunning for all three points this evening for that reason, with Chelsea obviously in a healthier position as it stands.

One man who says he would have been just as happy without taking a mid-season break is The Blues centre back Antonio Rudiger.

The German international is eager to get going again tonight and is ready to take all three points, hopefully!

Speaking to the Chelsea website, Rudiger said:

“It is good memories playing against Man United. These are the types of games you want to play, so I am ready!

“The winter break in February is a bit weird I would say, but at the end of the day it is good maybe to not see every time the same faces. That is okay for the mental side and also for the physical it is good, but from my point of view, I have already had a long break [due to injury]. For me if there was no break I would also be happy.

“Of course there was momentum after I scored against Leicester and you always want to play after that, but that does not change anything. After the two-week break, we have to go again.”
