Chelsea have had some great players through their history, but few have made such an impact as Jimmy Greaves.
The legendary striker is perhaps our greatest ever youth academy product, and the current generation can only hope to match his incredible numbers.
Six hattricks for England leading to a total of 44 goals in 57 games. A World Cup winners medal and a quite astonishing record at club level too, you’d think that Greavsie would have been a shoo-in for an honour from the government. But he remains just Jimmy.
BT Sport are now pushing a campaign to get him an honour, one we’re fully behind. If Harry Kane can get a prize for knocking in a few penalties against Panama, it’s crazy that someone who has lifted the World Cup is lacking.
They pointed out the list of English footballers to receive honours in the Tweet here:
Some absolute England legends have rightly been honoured over the years…
– England's fourth-highest scorer
– Six England hat-tricks
– 44 goals in 57 caps
– Youngest to reach 20, 30 and 40 goals
– World Cup winnerWe think it's time for #Greavsie to join the list! 🎖 pic.twitter.com/Xarm5tiKMy
