Possible future Tammy captures the attention in youth teams

Chelsea had serious trouble signing a striker in January, finally being unable to secure a backup for Tammy Abraham despite exploring all manner of options in the market.

Since then, one youth team striker has hit a real purple patch, and given the circumstances we wouldn’t be surprised if Frank Lampard has been paying attention with a view to upgrading his squad in the future.

Armando Broja is only 18, but is already making serious waves in the youth team in the way that Tammy did before him. He’s got 15 goals for the U18s already, and was unplayable in the 7-0 win over Wolves this week.

Given he’s already pretty physically developed, he might be able to go on loan while still a teenager, just as Tammy did, to really kickstart his development.

Next year may come a little too soon, but if he’s up for it, we can see a Championship loan doing him a world of good.

It won’t stop us signing a backup for Tammy, but it might just stop us spending a crazy amount if we know we’ve got top class players in that position coming through.
