N’Golo Kante’s injury examination reveals “grade 2” tear

N’Golo Kante limped off injured against Manchester United on Monday night, and Chelsea fans have been fearing the worst ever since.

The midfielder last less than ten minutes before leaving to be replaced by Mason Mount, a worrying development considering the team had just had a fortnight off.

Kante’s injuries have become more and more of a concern in the last couple of seasons, and SportWitness have translated a L’Equipe story which comments that the former Leicester man is “no longer indestructible.”

They also add that he had had a medical examination in London last night, which concluded that the injury he suffered was a “probable grade 2 injury,” meaning more than a minor tear but not a full rupture or anything like that.

A couple of weeks out is the minimum we can expect, and given his persistent problems this season, we expect him to be used very sparingly even after that.
