Marcos Alonso a step closed to Inter Milan after European humiliation

Marcos Alonso got a red card for Chelsea yesterday, and if the rumours from Italy translated by SportWitness are to be believed that might well be his last European game for the club.

The left back threw a moronic elbow across the face of Robert Lewandowski last night in the closing stages, almost seeming as though he wanted to be out of the game and the tie as soon as possible.

He had actually been one of our few threats in the game previous to that, bursting into the Bayern box on one occasion in the first half.

The transfer rumours now say that Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan are front of the queue to sign him, and frankly there won’t be too many Chelsea fans complaining. For every great moment like we saw from him on Saturday, we’ve seen plenty of others where he’s just looked like a player who can’t operate at this level.

He looked great under Conte though, and we’re sure a move to Milan would see him back to making the most of the abilities he does have.
