Lampard sticks with Christensen and Rudiger but pair don’t convince

Chelsea drew 2-2 with Leicester at the weekend, a result that looks increasingly acceptable given that most of the teams around us dropped points again.

Fans still weren’t happy with a lot of aspects of the performance though, and some of the decisions Frank Lampard made in changing the lineup didn’t go down well at all.

One thing that continues to mystify some Blues fans is his decision to stick with Andreas Christensen. The Dane still doesn’t convince in a central defensive partnership with Antonio Rudiger, but the manager has changed up the back 4 so often it seems like he just wants to keep it settled for now.

Some want to see Fikayo Tomori back in the team, others favour Kurt Zouma, and there is still a loyalist pro-Christensen faction too. Pretty much every different combination of the 4 has supporters in some quarters.

Ultimately, the chopping and changing is the one thing that must be avoided. If Lampard is convinced this is his best pair, we’re happy to go with it for now.
