John Terry reveals “the best manager by a long way”

John Terry is a legendary figure at Chelsea FC, but he is not an arrogant man, and is always talking about those who influence him and helped shape him as a player.

One of those he puts above all others is Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager arrived at the club to transform them into serial winners with Terry as captain, and in The Independent today the defender explained what made the Special One so special:

“In my career, [Jose] has been the best manager by a long way. If he had have said ‘We could have gone to the moon’, I think he would have very player – and I am being serious – going or at least trying,” the titanic central defender said.

We don’t doubt it for a second. when you look at the way players like Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba fought for the Chelsea cause, you can see the effect Mourinho had. We’ve got zero doubt that if he’d told them they were going to the moon, all three would have got to work reading books about rocket science without hesitation.

Fortunately for us, he just told them to focus on winning games and lifting trophies.
