“In any job he will succeed” – Chelsea cult hero Ivanovic backs Lampard for success

Chelsea are in an odd situation right now where their manager was also the teammate of some of the players in the squad, and certainly of many recently departed players.

Branislav Ivanovic is among those who left in the last few seasons, and having played with Frank, he’s made it very clear that he thinks it’s just a matter of time before he succeeds at the top level.

“Frank is the right person, in the right place and in any job he will succeed,” he said in an interview with Spanish paper Marca.

“The problem with coaches is that they need results and titles, but I think they are doing a fantastic job and it is not easy… For me he is one of the most important people in my career.”

Brana always had a rather touching soft side, and it’s funny to see the supposed tough man Serbian speak in such glowing terms about his old colleague.

It’s a true mark of Lampard’s quality that he still elicits praise like this, and we have to say we’re convinced – give him enough time and he will succeed, no matter what he’s doing.

As Brana reminds us though – it’s all about results and titles, and even more basically, wins.

The whole team needs to pull together and earn a few of those, starting on Monday night.
