Chelsea have had some pretty great midfielders over the years, but few are remembered as fondly as the much loved Michael Essien.
The Ghana star today posted a “throwback” image to his time on loan at AC Milan from the Chels, where he came up against a young Mateo Kovacic at Inter in the Milan derby.
Neither knew at that stage that the Croat would go on to be a key man for Chelsea’s midfield himself, with their respective paths crossing in that one game in the San Siro.
