Chelsea have made it to half time against Bayern and kept the score at 0-0.
It wasn’t an awful showing from the Blues, but they spent most of the half defending, and whenever they had the chance to break forward it seemed to be Ross Barkley whose efforts broke down the attack.
Fans on Twitter already had it in for the England midfielder, and his 45 minutes in the biggest game of the season so far haven’t endeared him any more.
They laid into him on Twitter, with one fan saying “this game is too much for him” – a brutal assessment of your first ever Champions League start.
He did win late free kick to earn Thiago a yellow, which earned him some credit.
You can see a collection of their reactions embedded in the Tweets below:
When it really sets in that you're watching Ross Barkley and Willy Caballero start a Champions League knockout round game against Bayern Munich.#CFC #CHEBAY #UCL pic.twitter.com/VZwM7gEvLu

Imagine if Barkley scores and gets the winner 😂 he’s been awful tonight

We knew this would be a VERY tough match, so to go in not behind at HT is promising (thanks Willy!).
But what I wont accept is the likes of Rudiger not being able to do basics like mark and play offside, or Barkley not having a 1st touch. This is not the game to drop a 0/10!

HT: Chelsea 0-0 Bayern Munich. The visitors with most of the play, but chances for Chelsea. Barkley, in particular, struggling.

Caballero to the rescue as Barkley gives the ball away for the umpteenth time. He's finding it a lot harder tonight than Saturday. #CHEBAY

Barkley struggling. Not got the pace for this game. Pedro and Willian both there on the bench.

Barkley needs to come off at half time, it's Willian's time to shine ffs he thrives in games like this

Lampard should get Barkley off, bring Willian in. Play Mount on the left to cut inside
