Frank Lampard reveals major first team player is still hurt ahead of vital Man U game

Frank Lampard has just had his press conference ahead of Monday night’s game against Manchester United, and the Chelsea boss had bad news for fans who were hoping to see a fully fit squad after the international break.

Lampard revealed that Tammy Abraham, the number 9 who has been so effective for Chelsea this season is still suffering with the ankle injury he picked up against Arsenal almost a month ago.

“Tammy is still feeling the effects,” Lampard said in quotes picked up by Football.London. “We had to take him out of training a couple of times this week but he trained today. I’m hoping he’ll be fit.”

While it looked a nasty one, we were really expecting Tammy to be back to full power by now, especially given we’ve just had a two week break, plus the FA Cup game against Hull he missed.

The fact that he’s not yet ready just goes to show the injury was more severe than previously thought, and also explains why Abraham was so far off the pace against Leicester in our last game, where he played on painkilling injections.
