Former Real Madrid star told Spurs to sign Ziyech

Former Real Madrid man Rafael Van Der Vaart told Daniel Levy, chairman of his other former club Tottenham Hotspurs, to sign Hakim Ziyech, according to his interview with a publication in Russia.

As always, SportWitness have the best translated quotes from the continent, and they have the attacking midfielder’s full words on the subject:

“I told [Levy] earlier: I really like this footballer. He can do everything – both score and assist. Watching him is a pleasure, ” the former Holland star commented.

“But overall, Chelsea are playing differently, a bit more Dutch in a sense, so Ziyech will suit his future team,” he went on.

That sounds a bit like a dig at Jose Mourinho, if you look carefully. We’ll take it as a compliment, in any case.

Ziyech is now on something of a farewell tour with Ajax, with the club having announced his departure to Chelsea in the summer. They play Getafe in the Europa League tonight, but the Morocco star is out injured, rather unfortunately for any Chelsea fan hoping to see him in action in European competition again.
