Former Arsenal man a massive fan of Chelsea’s transfer “plan”

Paul Merson has a column in the Daily Star where he’s allowed to sound off weekly about goings on in the Premier League.

This time round he’s mainly focused on the events regarding Dan Gosling, but he also finds some time to weigh in on Chelsea’s move for Hakim Ziyech.

Merson is a big fan, and thinks the move compares very favorably to Manchester United’s activity recently.

“Now [Chelsea] are buying Hakim Ziyech from Ajax. Another good signing. Quick. Experienced. Full of goals, and the right age,” the former Arsenal man said.

“You can see a plan there. I think Frank is building something good for the future. What are United building by buying Odion Ighalo?” he went on.

“What’s the plan there? You can see the plan at Chelsea. I can’t see one at United,” he concluded.

We reckon there would be plenty of fans who would disagree about how concrete Chelsea’s plan looks at times, but Ziyech does look like a smart move, and we can see why Merse is impressed.

Let’s see where both clubs stand in a year. If we win tonight, it will be a massive push in the right direction.
