“It’s a fantastic club” – What Ajax Boss has said about Ziyech’s impending Chelsea move

Frank Lampard is on the verge of completing his first signing as Chelsea manager, albeit the deal is being confirmed for the summer.

Ajax attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech is expected to be announced as a Chelsea player anytime soon, but will obviously finish the season in Eredivisie.

Terms have been agreed between Chelsea and the 26-year old Moroccan international, and the fee is said to be £38 million (45m euros).

As well as all the main media outlets reporting this deal being close to conclusion, Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag has also all but confirmed that the deal is happening, and he is pleased for the player.

Speaking after his teams 3-0 KNVB Cup victory against Vitesse Arnhem on Wednesday, he told Fox Sports (as cited by The Metro):

“Ziyech to Chelsea? A transfer was coming, we expected it to happen. ‘And I actually already expected this one or two years earlier. And each time it was: “Wow, he stayed again”. ‘We are just happy that we will still have him until the end of the season.

“If it comes around, I would only applaud that, because it’s a fantastic club. We first have to wait until it is final, but if it is, we are very happy for Hakim. ‘And I am very proud of him.”

Humble words from the Ajax boss, and he clearly appreciates the player and wants the best for him.

Chelsea fans will now patiently await the official announcement..
