Chelsea drew 2-2 away against Leicester City today in the lunchtime kick off in the Premier League.
The Blues were lucky in the end to survive with a point, with Leicester missing two easy chances in the second half. With that said, Chelsea played well in the first half and should have been 2-0 up early on, so the draw is probably a fair result.
However, one of the major talking points after the game was some of the bizarre selection choices from manager Frank Lampard.
It’s obvious from his words in recent interviews that he isn’t entirely pleased with the boards lack of signings during the January transfer window.
He chose to start with Pedro today despite his abysmal last performance, as well as starting an injured Tammy Abraham, leaving no place in the squad for Olivier Giroud.
Then near the end of the match, he decided against bringing Michy Batshuayi on for Abraham, but instead bought Ross Barkley on leaving them with no recognised striker on the pitch!
These Blues fans believe it was a clear message to the board for not giving him any signings…
Think him bringing on Barkley instead of Bats was a clear message to the board about not signing a striker

Leicester 2-2 Chelsea
– Can't complain about the points dropped.
– Lampard sending a message to the players and the board
– Rudiger was brilliant with the goals but woeful at the back
– Mount's 2nd half showed why Lampard still trusts him
– Reece, Jorginho CHO and Christensen 👏🏻— Sripad (@falsewinger) February 1, 2020

Are Frank's substitutions sending a message to the board or is Michy's howler kept him out?

I think it's fair to say that Lampard isn't entirely happy with our options at striker.
A message to the board?

When you leave a striker at home & another on the bench to go false 9 with Willlian as a striker you are 100% sending a message to the board.. he needed a striker & wasn’t backed for whatever reason

FL making clear message to the board today. Didn’t include Giroud in the squad, played an unfit forward and then replaces him with Barkley 🤷♂️
