Claims of a new super low release clause for Liverpool and Chelsea target

Chelsea and Liverpool have received a massive boost in their alleged pursuit of one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers.

As reported by The Sun, both clubs are keen on signing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner this summer, and they probably wont be the only clubs if the latest reports are to be believed.

The same report cites German publication Sport1 in claiming that Werner’s reported £50 million release clause is actually half of that at £25 million.

If this is true, I can imagine that every big club in Europe will at least be making an enquiry for the 23-year old German international.

It’s well known that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants a new striker to provide competition for Tammy Abraham in the summer, with Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud both expected to leave the club.

Batshuayi just simply isn’t cutting it at Stamford Bridge, and Giroud will be out of contract and showing no signs of extending as it stands.
