Chelsea’s season is “not good” says Mateo Kovacic, but Blues can “improve a lot”

Mateo Kovacic has been a really impressive signing for Chelsea since arriving from Real Madrid, initially on loan, two seasons ago.

Perhaps it’s the fact that he came here from a team that was winning consecutive Champions League titles that means he has some exceptionally high standards.

He certainly isn’t happy with the season that his team are having so far, as you can tell from the quotes he has in the Chelsea magazine this month as recorded by Football.London on their website:

“Our season is going up and down, which is not good for a great team like Chelsea,” the former Inter Milan man noted.

“But I think we have a lot of young players, we are a new team, so we can improve a lot.”

Those kinds of high standards are exactly what we’re looking for in a Chelsea player, especially one of the older heads, by the standards of the ridiculously low average age in our squad at the moment.

As he says, we’ve got a lot of room to improve, but this current “up and down” form as he calls it, is not good enough for a “great team like Chelsea.

That up and down can quickly become just up or just down depending on the results we get in the next couple of weeks in our crunch games against Manchester United, Spurs and Bayern Munich.
