Chelsea’s wonderkids are coming through the academy so thick and fast now that it’s hard to keep up.
No sooner have we managed to get Reece James into the first team, then we hear about the damage Tino Anjorin is doing in the youth sides as he pushes for time in the senior squad.
Now, before Anjorin has even had a chance for his breakthrough, we’ve got another star on our hands – Armando Broja.
The young striker was key last night as our youth team battled past Millwall into the FA Youth Cup semi finals, scoring a bicycle kick that was ruled out for offside, but then following up with another effort that counted, and proved decisive.
In quotes on the official Chelsea website, the Albanian striker talked about the game, and what it was like to play at Stamford Bridge, and indeed score his first ever goal there:
“As a kid, I’ve always wanted to play at Stamford Bridge and coming to such an amazing place was a great feeling.”
“To score in such a place is also a great feeling, for my first time it was incredible. It was a good game, their fans were lively and our fans were amazing. All the Chelsea boys were good today and we really enjoyed the game.”
Having seen off Millwall, we’re not just two games away from winning the trophy we’ve made almost our own over the last 10 years. With Broja up front, we have every chance of continuing that.
