Chelsea’s best rated player in damaging defeat to Manchester United

Chelsea lost 2-0 to Manchester United last night in a game which saw the Blues suffer more than just a defeat.

We lost players to injury, we lost serious ground in the race for the top 4, and some people seemed to lose a little faith in Frank Lampard’s abilities too.

There has to be a best of a bad bunch though, and in this case according to WhoScored it was Mateo Kovacic. He got a 7.2 rating in the game, which was the highest on the Chelsea team, beating Willian on 7.0 and Pedro on 6.6 in a distant third.

There’s no doubting the Croatian had some good moment. Several times he created attacks with some clever dribbling, and once N’Golo Kante had gone off injured early on the first half Kova had to do plenty of defensive work too.

Sadly his efforts weren’t enough to help us to even a solitary point, and this season continues to spiral downwards.
