Chelsea have been watching Lille player “for months” and want to make summer move

Chelsea have been linked with a bid for Mike Maignan, the Lille goalkeeper.

SportWitness as always do a superb job of rounding up the news from the continent, and they have reports from Eurosport France that Chelsea are sniffing around the stopper and have “supervised him for many months”.

Supposedly we’re looking to the impressive 24 year old, who has been first choice in France for a couple of years now, as a potential star of the future.

It’s no surprise that these claims are bubbling up now after the shocking removal of Kepa from the starting lineup last week. Maignan looked very good when he faced us in the Champions League this season, and we’ve clearly been watching a few different LOSC stars recently.

We imagine Kepa will be given one more run to prove he’s just in bad form before the summer. If he still looks bad then, we seriously think a major move for a goalie could be on the cards.
