Chelsea to rival Premier League clubs in pursuing £77 million Barcelona star

The summer transfer window is approaching and clubs are looking to plan out who they will be looking to bring in.

Chelsea, having not done any business in the January window, are expected to be digging deep and splashing some cash at the end of the season.

Of course, Blues fans have heard that all before and actions will speak louder than words. Could they make those actions in the shape of a pursuit for former Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho?

Well, they are named by The Sun (who cite The Express) alongside Manchester United, and ironically his former team Liverpool, as being the Premier League clubs who are interested in offering Barcelona’s required £77 million in order to sign the midfielder this summer.

Having been on loan at Bayern Munich for the season, it is thought that Barcelona have seen enough to cut their losses on the 27-year old and allow him to leave the club on a permanent deal.

I personally can’t see him being a priority for Chelsea in the summer, however.
