Chelsea player named in BBC team of the week

One player made it into Garth Crooks’ team of the week this week, and you can probably imagine who.

Chelsea conceded two pretty soft goals, so it might be surprising to see it’s a central defender in the mix in the BBC’s weekly lineup. But it won’t be that surprising when you consider that Antonio Rudiger also scored both our goals and pretty much saved us from a seriously damaging defeat.

As Crooks says, Rudiger’s second was “one of the best headed goals [we’ve] seen this season”, and Chelsea only “got away with” this result because of him.

If he could keep some clean sheets too that would be great, but in this case he was hardly individually at fault for either of the Foxes’ goals.

His place in the back 3 of Crooks’ team is well deserved as he became the first Chelsea centre-back to score 2 goals in a game since John Terry in 2013.

If only he could defend like the former captain too!
