Chelsea must buy the right personalities as well as the right players when summer spending begins

Chelsea drew 2-2 with Leicester City on Saturday, continuing a rather shaky run of results for the Blues.

Frank Lampard tweaked his team once again, but they still looked to have the same problems as ever. The pattern we’ve seen so many times in the last few months repeated itself.

An energetic first half where we created a host of good chances but couldn’t score; followed by w wave of panic in the second period to undo all that good work.

It’s a bizarre pattern, and in this case it’s fair to say we were lucky to come away with a draw, despite having had periods of dominance in the first half.
It seems like a team in need of leaders, and the players out there just aren’t up to it. Most of them are young and many are in their first Premier League seasons.

The players who the team look to to provide leadership – Jorginho, Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta, just aren’t providing it. They put in good performances at times, but none is really able to focus the team’s belief.

When that panic starts to spread, you need a calm influence to fight against it. At the moment there is nobody in the dressing room with that power, and that’s something that urgently needs to be addressed.
